Admission Process & Entry Requirements
The admissions process is designed to ensure that students make the best choice for them which maximises their chances of success. We endeavour to give impartial, considered advice to the students at all stages of the process.
- The minimum general entry qualification at GCSE is at least five grades at 4 – 9.
- We expect students to have 4 – 9 GCSE passes in English Language and Mathematics. Students who do not have these qualifications will be required to re-sit the examinations.
- The expected standards of academic and personal behaviour are set out in the Partnership for Learning Agreement which all Sixth Form students must accept.
Applications commence following the Sixth Form Open Evening in November. Following submitting their application, Year 11 students will be interviewed by a member of the Sixth Form Team to ensure that they understand the requirements of Sixth Form study and that they have made appropriate subject choices. If there are any concerns about the student’s application, the student will be seen again and the concerns addressed.
Following completion of the GCSEs applicants will be invited to spend two days as Sixth Form students, they will have the opportunity to enjoy taster lessons in their prospective subjects and enjoy all of the facilities on offer to Sixth Form students. This is always a very enjoyable event and gives the students a genuine insight into study at A. Level.
Students enrol for the Sixth Form following receipt of the GCSE results on Results Day. At that time they will confirm that they have met the entry requirements and their option choices.
